1.     What is the cost for a DJ session? – The price largely depends on the event, the venue, the time required, and the ‘day of the week’ (eg: Saturday nights are more expensive than a Friday night). Please contact me (link to the contact page) via the contact form, and I will call you or email you with a full ‘no hidden charges’ fixed price quote.

2. Is there a booking fee? – No! As much as you might be surprised, DJ Neil does not accept a booking or cancellation fee. The reason for this is, I get most of the functions as a referral of guests seeing me at a wedding or party, and the chances of them cancelling a function is very rare!. In the 20 years of DJing, I can recall about 4-5 cancellations.

3.  How much notice does DJ Neil need? – The earlier the better!. At least 4-6 months notice is advisable to avoid disappointment.

4.  What are the differences between a dj, a live band and a juke box? – A juke box in my opinion is only good if you want some background music at a cocktail party, and do not require (and I repeat do not require) any of the guests to dance. If you want the guests to have a good time, and have a dancing session, then you really need a DJ. There is a huge difference in what a DJ can do to a party. The DJ will ensure that every one goes home humming a few dance tunes played on the night, as well as ensure they have a great time dancing to the ‘golden oldies’ and party favourites as well as the new dance music. Bands are usually used for large functions and can be a lot more expensive, as a good band will consist of at least 5 -6 members, and hence will cost more. The other issue with Bands is, they will not be able to chop & change music as the guests may like, and cannot stop a song in the middle, where as a DJ can quickly mix another song, if the DJ feels, the song played is not a ‘favourite’ of the guests. The guests will also get much more songs per hour with a DJ.

6.  What style of music will be played at my function? - The style of music to be played in entirely your choice. However, I will ensure your selection is a ‘likeable’ one for the ‘other’ guests as well. For eg, if you were a heavy metal fan wanting only heavy metal music at your wedding, I might suggest some other music that might go down well at weddings. There is a list of different styles of music for you to choose. Please print the selection and provide to DJ Neil on the night, and I will gladly play your selection.

7.    What is the style of your DJing? - DJ Neil usually talks on the microphone to get the crowd up on their feet dancing. Since I MC functions as well, talking to the guest and DJing at the same time is not an issue. Unlike some DJs who do not play requests or talk on the mic, DJ Neil will always gladly accept requests, and if available definitely play the request as well.

8.      Is there some form of a Contract? - An email will be sent as a confirmation of all the details discussed. Since payment is only accepted at the end of the function, the email usually forms the contract until the services mentioned in the email are delivered to the fullest satisfaction of the client. It should be noted that there can be reasons where DJ Neil might not be able to make it to your function due to any unforseen circumstance, and if this was to occur, DJ Neil will not be liable in any way (cash or kind) to the client. All effort will be made to ensure another DJ is found for this event. Note that in the last 18 years of DJing, DJ Neil has NEVER let a client down. Bu the above is written so that no legal to implications to arise, just in case it was to happen one day!
